my pass lab is a power amp only, unlike the pass lab integrated amp INT30a. The antelope pre-amp is great giving it's an additional function on top of the zodiac gold dac. The volume attenuator gives you perfect balanced volume. A dedicated pre-amp is always better though.

haha...nicely asked as it is a bit odd to use signature pro as main headphone. The main reason is I am still looking for an alternative for Abyss.
I had HD800 and LCD3 once and didn't quite used to their sound signatures, especially hd800. The LCD3 has a nice tone, good bass and lush mid but the soundstage is rather congested and not transparent enough. I prefer my signature pro with upgrade cable to them. Of course signature pro has lots of weakness, weak soundstage and separation even with the upgrade cable. But the sound quality and transparency do improve a lot after i bought the upgrade cable, believe it or not.
Back to the Abyss, it is the perfect headphone to me apart from the steep price and my head size is not fully suitable for its design. I am not saying abyss is discomfort. It's way better than LCD series. But my head size is barely fit in Abyss. Good new is there is HE1000 released. I will definitely acquire it if it suits my taste as i don't want to waste the potential of my amp.

don't be fooled by its 660g weight, the suspension head band is nicely designed to spread over its weight on your head. The built is super solid. Some ones think it's like a medieval torture tool, but personally i think its design is state of the art. But it does require times to adjust the setting to your head shade.
Most importantly, it really sounds like a bookshelf speaker strapped on your shoulder. It's doesn't feel like an headphone at all.

joyway ching, you are absolutely right! signature pro is really good for rock and pop music....my favorite on-the-road headphone as well. The dx100 drives signature pro in a decent volume.

I have owned some audio tech woodys, grade headphones, denon's, planar magnetic headphones and some staxs' and I finally find that signature pro is the most engaging headphone for me. I use it to listen pop music and sometimes some jazz.

finally found a ching who appreciates signature pro. Most others think ultrasone is just gimmicks mainly, but the signature pro is really practical, and the outlook is down to earth studio-like. Have you got a chance to go to labkable trying out the amazon upgrade cable for signature pro? It will drop your jaw which i am sure. Finally, really nice to me you joyway ching!
