故事簡介：
差利卓別靈這回化身為機械化工廠中的小員工，和無人性的機器對比出許多有趣故事。另一方面結織了流浪街頭的Paulette，兩人並開始生活在一起‥‥。差利卓別靈對機械化的生活作了相當大幽默的諷刺。本片也是他最後一部有聲電影，水準表現仍然相當卓越。其中還放了一首他自寫自唱的歌曲「Smile」。本片最後一幕「迎著陽光、奔向道路盡頭」的畫面更是卓別林最有名的場景，這六十幾年來的電影無不使用他的這個概念！
